So, Amazon has been having this contest of some sort called the "Amazon Customer Vote". Basically, Amazon gathers enough information of what people want for this holiday season, and then in groups of 4, allows users to vote for these ridiculous deals. Those who voted are randomly selected and given an promotional code which is given out and redeemable up to 1 day. That means you are guaranteed that product for that amount, no matter how fast it sells out.
For example, Round 1 Featured:
Xbox 360 Core System for $100 (Winner)
Barbie in The 12 Dancing Princesses: Interactive Doll for $20 (Runner Up)
One-Year Amazon Prime Membership & $100 Toys Certificate for $120 (Seriously, why wasn't this runner up? You could buy 5 of the stupid Barbie dolls, get it shipped for free with a 2-day shipment, and still have benefits for over a year!)
Mongoose Domain Dual-Suspension Mountain Bike for $60
That means, for those who voted for the Xbox360 Core System, and was randomly selected of those who voted, received a redeemable coupon code to buy it for $100. Not bad seeing as it retails for $299.99.
Of course, silly me, I didn't see this promotion until the last round. But really, I'm glad I didn't see it as the three rounds previous were practically crap items (or I would have slurped and ended up bankrupt! X( I mean, who doesn't want a 26" LCD HDTV for $200?)
So, this last round featured:
![]() Zune 30 GB Digital Media Player (White) by Zune Amazon Price: $229.95 Winning Price: $90.00 | ![]() T.M.X. Tickle Me Elmo Amazon Price: $39.99 Runner-Up Price: $39.99 | George Foreman GRV160S 10-Burger Jumbo Grill Amazon Price: $49.99 Runner-Up Price: $20.00 | WowWee Roboreptile Robotic Reptile Amazon Price: $69.99 Runner-Up Price: $30.00 |
Yes, I know I could have voted for the better product (the 10-Burger Jumbo Grill), but thought to myself, "I hate you Microsoft, but I'll do you this one favor. In Memory of James Kim, I will vote for this product that he actually liked and was writing a book about." So, I log-in, click "vote" under the "Zune" product and waited for 4 days until the contest was over. Of course, the whole time I was thinking that I would even be selected to purchase this product.
Tuesday morning rolls around, and I roll out of bed to check my email and TA-DA! to my surprise(!), I received an email saying that I was choosen. I honestly had to debate the purchase as I had originally told myself that you couldn't PAY ME to by a non-SONY electronic (ugh...), but when everyone else wants the Zune, and I could get it for a fairly low price, why the heck not? I mean, if worse comes to worse, I could just sell it to lowly chump for like $150 (gotta make a profit off of shipping!) because $90 is very hard to pass on.
I receive it on Thursday, so I'll be writing a full report over the weekend. Time to lay my SONY Network HD MP3 (20 gigs of ATRAC3 goodness) to rest after 3 years of wear, tear, and abuse.
I don't celebrate holidays for religious reasons, but I do take advantage of the fact that here in the US, they do observe it. That being the case, I get to have days to spend time with my family.

Before the trip began, I helped to organize the departmental potluck. There was good food, and a lot of desserts and lots of dip. The VP of the department was kind enough to get a 20 lbs. turkey for us to eat.
Someone brought their Nintendo Wii for all to play, some people played pool, and we all filled ourselves and went home. I did all of the above. I got a chance to play Wii Sports - Boxing, where I proceeded to knock the guy out by repeatedly punching the opponent in the face and groin. I played pool where I proceed to lose.

My brother Ric and his girlfriend Alicia flew in on a Thursday evening and when we got into town we basically went to sleep.

I woke up at 6:30 to check out and see if I could purchase a Nintendo Wii, but to no avail. Instead, we went home, took a shower, sat around, and then went out to Best Buy again to look around. I bought Elite Beat Agents for the Nintendo DS (and haven't put it down yet).
Afterwards, we went to go and eat Hmong food, went home and played a lot of Texas Hold'em.

It was my parents' housewarming party, and so we had quite a few relatives show up. But even though the house was full, we still had 3 families absent.
Did I mention that A.J. came with me to Fresno/Sanger? If not, he did come along. He always played the guitar, and my dad asked him to play "Dust In the Wind" about 30 times. Sorry, A.J.! :)
Sunday & Monday, November 26 - 27
Sunday was our trip home. It was filled with the rainy cloudy weather of San Francisco on Sunday, and a bright clear day of Monday.
Though I live in San Francisco, I still love visiting every part of it, and taking pictures like the tourist I am. :) It is always a joy to visit the bridge and walk along the paved roads down to Fort Point. And walking around Baker Beach and Crissy Field.
My older brother's girlfriend is from Poland, and she has never really cared too much about coming to San Francisco. Or to not misquote her, "I never told myself that I had to visit the Golden Gate Bridge before I die, or anything, but I am happy to be here." All-in-all, it was a very eventful and busy, 5 day weekend for me.
