I understand that music is something you have a passion for, but don't forget, I took you out here so that you could [focus on] school. Music was a hobby that you could do on the side. I specifically remember asking you to do either of the following: 1) full-time school/part-time work or 2) full time job/part-time school. You did neither. You decided to work part-time and go to school part-time. This meant that I would have to take care of you because your paychecks would only amount to something close to only paying your bills. That being said, I tried to do the music thing with you. I wanted to introduce you to [CENSORED], A.J.'s friend. But he himself said that he was not looking to making new music with any artists. The only thing that you had that I could have provided him as a sample of what you did, you didn't even like [it] yourself. That's why A.J. and I decided to help make a new song of some sort. This never took off.
This issue goes further back than just Fresno. This issue goes back to other doubts and problems. One example would be the time you wanted me to help you with critiquing your singing before the audition for the girl r&b band. You said you were ready--having practiced for two weeks--but yet you couldn't sing acapella without going out of key or forgetting the lyrics. That being said, you didn't get the position in the group.
Fast forward a little bit to Fresno. You told me you heard about a audition for a musical two days before we went to Fresno. Even though I said that we probably won't get back into the city until 4 - 5 p.m. you decided to come along. Saturday night, [my little brother] said that you, him, and my cousin [CENSORED] went into my brother's room to practice. Not saying that [my little brother] knows exactly what he's saying, but he could tell that you were not singing as strong as you might have thought you were. Even if you had had an opportunity to practice the song Thursday and Friday, you only did so for a little on Saturday, and it seems that you weren't ready. Telling me the circumstance, I already knew, without a doubt, because of where you are auditioning (San Francisco, not some other place like St. Paul or Fresno--not so art-centric metropolitans) that there was a very small percentage that you [would] get it.
That being the case, I --having already been put through a lot of strain to drive everyone to every which way, doing things for everyone, and just running around in general-- was not ready to take all of us (You, [My Cousin], A.J., and myself) all the way back to the bay area, not having had anytime to unwind even for a second. My point was not that I didn't think that you should try. My point is that you were not ready, and because of such, it would have been an inconvenience for the three of us to waste our weekend.
If you recall, I said that we should wake up at 7 or 8 to leave, and you were still not up or ready by 9:15, in which case, I had to take my grandma to the flea market. In addition, we had checked the schedules for trains and the soonest one was at 8:45 a.m. and then 12:35 p.m.
Through all this, I am seen as the inconsiderate one. I am seen as the one who does not allow anyone to follow their dreams. I am seen as the one who ruined everything. At no point during this am I heard all the way through. At no point during this am I listened to. And in the end, I am the one who is not talked to.
I am not your family--I realize that. But as someone who devoted several thousands of dollars into someone who I thought needed it--as well as support--, you would expect that someone to show a little more respect for the person who was helping them out.
You say that you felt like you were betrayed? How do you think I felt when you stopped talking to me. I was willing to make this all work. I still am. But I don't want to be taken advantage of.
You are the type of person who, once you see that you can't get whatever you want out of them, you have no use for them anymore and you stop talking to them. You don't appreciate them for just being there. Otherwise, you would have actually stayed around to hang out more than just a couple hours before [your boyfriend] was done hanging out with his friends or instead of [me]cooking for you, you'd invite me to your place.
I had a good day at work today.
The long awaited Bohemian Rhapsody circle of love video is located below.
Yeah, my friends are kind of dorky like that... But I love them all and they are all really great people. I'm glad that I had the opportunity to spend a relaxing weekend with them.

Today, started off on a bad start. I turned my DS on to check the battery. Red Light flashes. Grabbed PSP and flipped the switch to power on. It wouldn't even turn on. I left my mp3 player at work. My phone become unhook during the night and was at 3 battery bars. Darn! I have to play it conservative with my phone, can't listen to songs. I ended up missing my light rail bus because I was looking for my sketch book or even just a book to read. I didn't have enough time to make myself a sandwich so I had to leave with nothing to entertain myself on the way to work.
I was still able to get into work 15 minutes early but I had to work through my lunch and breaks and I still ended up not finishing even though I left an hour and a half later than when I should have left for home.
On my way home I decided that I would like to go and see if there was any places near where I live that I could obtain a muni fast pass-- monthly pass which allows me unlimited access to local buses for a flat fee. Lisa came with me to endure the journey.
"Do you want to walk to drive?" I asked Lisa.
"It depends on you." Lisa replied.
I shrugged and said, "Well, we could brave the hills and be victims for several minutes as we walk in the dark, or be victims for a couple of minutes as we drive and the only thing we'd have to worry about are cars crashing into us."
"That's a good point. Well, you'd be driving, so it's up to you." I nodded and we got ready and decided to drive. Of course, the upstairs neighbors have blocked me from every which way so I have to squeeze myself down the sidewalk into an open area of the sidewalk to drive off into the road. Only when I hit the asphalt do I realize the predicament. My front right tire is completely deflated. However, instead of trying to change the tire myself right in the middle of the dark road, I drive at 5 mph to towards the Safeway that is 4 blocks away. I wasn't going to let a flat tire deter me and my efforts at 7:30 p.m.!
The sound the car made was similar to driving over aluminum cans. If it was loud while IN the car I could only imagine what it sounded like from the outside. I mean, the looks we got... Like the boy walking on the sidewalk with his stupid tennis racket looking back like a huge machnical monster was going to eat him could have given us a clue of what may have sounded like.
Not to worry the other people around me I decided to put my hazard lights on, so that people understood, this was an EMERGENCY! Go around! And yet people got angry as they just waited behind me. I was far over to the side of the street, they could have gone around! And when they finally did go, they honked all the while. So, instead of walking for 5 minutes until we got to Safeway it turned into driving for 15 minutes at 5 miles per hour with a flat tire and gas fumes leaking into the air ventilation. If we didn't get assualted by walking, we would surely die while in my car of asphyxiation.
(The story doesn't get better, just in case you were wondering. If you wanted a happy ending you probably should move along.)
We finally got just about to Safeway and parked. I said to Lisa that I was going to drive to 76 to inflate the tire but thought about how much of a pain that would be to have to drive a mile down the road at 5mph with people honking behind me all the while on a main street and so we walked into Safeway.
"Sorry, we don't sell it at the register. Go to customer service. We do sell it, and we still have some, but you'll have to go to Customer Service." Okay Lady... whatever you say and we start walking towards where she motion towards.
"Hrm... Looks like no one is here," I exclaim as I reach for the bell to ring someone's attention.
"Ugh... Renée..." I look over as Lisa points to a sign that read: "All Adult Fast Passes are SOLD OUT!"
"Gosh darn it!" I mutter as we walk out. "Okay Lisa, they said we could go to "Ace" something right? Okay, I think I saw it two blocks down."
We walk up to the Ace Hardware and as they are moving things to block the entrance, I flag down the manager and ask, "Do you guys sell Fast Passes?"
"Oh, no you want Ace Pharmacy," and points across the street to a building with a sign that read "CLOSED". "They close at 6." Thank you. That helps.
"Lisa, I think we're out of luck..." We walked uphill towards the car and turn it on, and start driving home, as we get into people's ways, get honked at 2 more times, get 3 people laughing at us as our car drags on at 5 mph, and two cars almost collide into us.
And of all the things that happened, I have never had more fun in a flatten car. Lisa and I just laughed. Talked about how a guy would try to car jack us and would probably walk away after trying to drive away. At least we were able to appreciate the houses in the area. I really enjoyed it. We just laughed and laughed until our sides hurt.
Flat-tired, asphyxiated, rejected, and all-- I loved it. My phone died, and so I would have been without a phone and have a flat-tire. At least I had Lisa to laugh it off with. I guess you just had to be there to understand the lunacy of it all.
Highlights of the Day:
- Savage Garden music
- Cookies
- Spending 30 minutes in a car with Lisa to drive 4 blocks
I wouldn't have traded anything in the world to do it again with Lisa. :)
I don't celebrate holidays for religious reasons, but I do take advantage of the fact that here in the US, they do observe it. That being the case, I get to have days to spend time with my family.
Wednesyda, November 22
Before the trip began, I helped to organize the departmental potluck. There was good food, and a lot of desserts and lots of dip. The VP of the department was kind enough to get a 20 lbs. turkey for us to eat.
Someone brought their Nintendo Wii for all to play, some people played pool, and we all filled ourselves and went home. I did all of the above. I got a chance to play Wii Sports - Boxing, where I proceeded to knock the guy out by repeatedly punching the opponent in the face and groin. I played pool where I proceed to lose.
Thursday, November 23
My brother Ric and his girlfriend Alicia flew in on a Thursday evening and when we got into town we basically went to sleep.
Friday, November 24
I woke up at 6:30 to check out and see if I could purchase a Nintendo Wii, but to no avail. Instead, we went home, took a shower, sat around, and then went out to Best Buy again to look around. I bought Elite Beat Agents for the Nintendo DS (and haven't put it down yet).
Afterwards, we went to go and eat Hmong food, went home and played a lot of Texas Hold'em.
Saturday, November 25
It was my parents' housewarming party, and so we had quite a few relatives show up. But even though the house was full, we still had 3 families absent.
Did I mention that A.J. came with me to Fresno/Sanger? If not, he did come along. He always played the guitar, and my dad asked him to play "Dust In the Wind" about 30 times. Sorry, A.J.! :)
Sunday & Monday, November 26 - 27
Sunday was our trip home. It was filled with the rainy cloudy weather of San Francisco on Sunday, and a bright clear day of Monday.
Though I live in San Francisco, I still love visiting every part of it, and taking pictures like the tourist I am. :) It is always a joy to visit the bridge and walk along the paved roads down to Fort Point. And walking around Baker Beach and Crissy Field.
My older brother's girlfriend is from Poland, and she has never really cared too much about coming to San Francisco. Or to not misquote her, "I never told myself that I had to visit the Golden Gate Bridge before I die, or anything, but I am happy to be here." All-in-all, it was a very eventful and busy, 5 day weekend for me.
